Oakley: Innovation, style and sporting heritage since 1975
by TWO JOBS
·
James Jannard, founder of Oakley, like other great entrepreneurs, started his business in his garage in 1975 with a budget of $300 in California, USA.
Jannard began by marketing motorcycle grips at motocross events, using a material he patented called "Unobtainium," a unique creation that is still used today for the construction of Oakley glasses.
Oakley launched its first sports glasses in 1980. All subsequent frames feature the same characteristics, including a high field of view, Prizm™ lens technology, and an ultra-lightweight O-Matter™ frame.
Eye Jacket Redux
The original Eye Jackets were created in the 1990s using cutting-edge computer technology for a digitally perfect fit and a harmonious, structured silhouette. The Eye Jacket Redux, launched in 2019, features a more striking and updated redesign, while remaining true to the original.
If in 1980 the first version was presented by Michael Jordan, now the baton is passed to NBA stars Damian Lillard and Kelly Oubre Jr., who have been chosen for the launch of this new version.
Sphaera, BiSpahera and Radar EV Path
The new Spahera, BiSphaera and Radar EV Path models are high-performance glasses designed especially for athletes and are destined to make their mark at these 2024 Olympic Games.
Sutro
On the other hand, the design of the Sutro sunglasses is inspired by cyclists of the 80s. Thanks to the oversized lenses combined with the most advanced technology, they allow us to better perceive all contrasts, including any obstacle or detail.
